Shelly Stanley has enjoyed music from a very young age and many of her favorite teachers and most impactful adults were musicians in her life. Shelly was trained in piano from the age of 8, competing nationally yearly and performing multiple times a year. Shelly started receiving vocal training at age 15 and sang in the elite choir at her high school, Emory and Henry College, MTSU and then as an adult in church praise teams. Shelly has taught private piano lessons as well as music classes at Discipleship Tutorial's Co-op. She currently plays keyboard and sings each Sunday on her church's praise team.

Course Description/Outline/Objectives: 
This class will take the basics learned in sewing and apply it to the art of costuming. We will study how to repurpose discarded clothing items ("goodwill finds") for theater or personal use, how costuming is different than traditional garment making, taking measurements and using patterns to create costumes for real people. We will create a few projects but will work closely with the music theater class to complete some special costumes for the spring play.
