Tasha Smith is a graduate of Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Counseling. She has been a member of The National Christian Counselors Association since 2012 and holds a Certification in Temperament Counseling. In addition she has been a Licensed Pastoral Counselor since 2015. Tasha worked in the medical field for many years as well as working closely with a nonprofit organization that dealt with life controlling issues. Prior to working in the counseling field she worked in banking for several years. 

Tasha is originally from Alabama and is married to her best friend, Brian. They have one  amazing son and 2 dogs. The family has attended LifePoint Church in Smyrna for the past 9 years where Tasha is part of the counseling program. She has homeschooled her son for the past 9 years and is a passionate advocate for the homeschool community.

Course Description/Outline/Objectives: 

This course is focused on strategies, tips, and tools that every student can utilize to succeed in school and in life. Information will be gathered from multiple sources. Covering essential skills such as Communicating Effectively, Making Decisions, Managing Personal Resources, Setting Goals, Studying Effectively, Resolving Conflicts, and more.

Topics will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Discovering Our Learning Styles

  • Becoming an Active Listener

  • Getting the Most out of Classroom Time

  • Time Management and Taking Notes

  • How to Improve Reading Skills

  • Preparing for Exams / Effective Study

  • Becoming a Good Researcher

  • Organization Skills

Expected Weekly Time Commitment for Homework:   Principals learned should be practiced in other courses.
